No, not to remember a certain event or someone, but to actually keep track of the memories and save that data on a cloud? With AI, everything is possible, and this Brain E-Tattoo will be a reality faster than we know. ​

In this fast-paced world, technology has been coming up with unusual innovations every day. What if we told you there is a start-up that could listen to your brain waves and reveal what medical ailments you might have? Would that be problematic or helpful? It is obvious to doubt.

Baruch Goldstein, co-founder and executive chairman of Brain Scientific, came up with the idea of an ‘e-Tattoo’ that would be implanted at the back of someone’s scalp with a robotic device. As per Baruch, the e-Tattoo is made of series of tiny electrodes- each the size of a hair strand. They use a similar device which is similar to a sewing machine. It is a fusion of a tattoo gun and a 3D Printer-the best of both worlds. What is fascinating is that he is an aspiring tattooist which led to this extraordinary idea. The concept is seemingly similar to Elon Musk’s ambitious project – Neuralink – Fitbit for the brain.

This platform could help develop video games or virtual reality, mostly in the case of anyone interested in controlling minds. The most tangible use for it is exploring neurological conditions.

Brain Scientific created NeuroCap, which is a disposable EEG headset with 22 electrodes and 19 active EEG channels. The pre-gelled up fixed electrode locations can remove the time-consuming task of measuring the patient’s head instead. It depends on EEG electrodes which is much easier. Goldstein claimed that it is possible to initiate EEG studies almost at the same amount of time as it takes to make instant noodles. Yes, it is that quick. The headgear is similar to the wrestler’s gear which is worn to protect the ear.

To study the brain data, EEG studies sometimes can be slow, so a device that could be easily worn is a faster option.One could wear it on a date or during grocery shopping. The graphene band used in the technology is not invasive and can be washed off with a solvent instead of getting it removed by a doctor. The brain e-tattoo is smaller than a brain cap so it can monitor the brain data, uninterrupted and less expensive.

How Will Brain e-Tattoo Help Medical Science?

The microchip attached to the head could tease patterns of brain activity. An FMRI or PET scan cannot retain the same information as much as this portable solution can. Goldstein said that he is trying to predict when a seizure can occur so they can get a medicine that could prevent it.

This could be a huge invention that would immensely help medical science.

Brain Scientific has currently two FDA-cleared devices that could kick-start their brain monitoring technology. The company is working on safety testing and will start clinical trials soon. It is yet a figment of fiction that would soon be a reality.

The pandemic has highlighted the need for more testing is yet to be done. This year has seen significant attention given to brain implants such as Elon Musk’s Neuralink among others. Everyone is perplexed with the inner workings of the brain.

The unique concept of a brain tattoo is very cyborg-like; it seems like a concept straight from wakanda unless it is ready to work.
