The Launch of iPhone 13 and the Rumors Surrounding It

June 14, 2021

Excited for this year's Annual Apple Event? Read on for leaked updates and probable new launches.

Annual Apple Event

The Annual release of new Apple gadgets, specifically an iPhone, is one of the most significant events in tech. While the rumors surrounding this tech giant are certain, Apple is exceptionally good at maintaining privacy regarding its new launches, giving little to no information to the news sources, giving rise to potential rumors. Various news sources have listed down various rumors related to the launch of the new Apple iPhone series. It’s said that the Annual Apple event can take place on 7th September this year, while its availability can start from the third week of September. The new iPhone series is speculated to be priced at US$1228, which slightly higher than the iPhone 12 series.

13 or 14?

The 2021 iPhone series might look similar to the 2020 Apple iPhone series. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple might launch four models – iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max — just like the iPhone 12 lineup 2020, consisting of two high-end “pro” models and two low cost and affordable devices. On the other hand, certain rumors state that the new iPhone series might skip number -13 and use the number 14 instead, as 13 is considered unlucky in many parts of the world. Apple is expected to unveil camera improvements, smaller notch, faster chips and an under-display Touch ID in its new iPhone series.

The Rumor Mill Churns Overtime

According to the rumor mill, the New iPhone might feature a portless design, making way for the most-awaited wireless charging, the technology of the future. But the famous Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo dismissed this and said that Apple would continue to rely on cables for the foreseeable future with no portless design and no transition to USB-C until MagSafe accessories become more familiar. The Wall Street Journal’s Joanna Stern suggested that Apple may introduce an in-display fingerprint sensor along with Face ID and optical technology as an alternative to biometric authentication.

Apple Enthusiasts are also expecting Apple to introduce 120Hz refresh rates for iPhone Pro models, improving battery life by introducing new space-saving components.

Regarding camera-related rumors, the schematics suggest that both iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max might increase in size featuring an identical camera setup allowing improved photography performance and Sensor-Shift Stabilization for better stabilization and auto-focus. Leaked dimensions indicate that iPhone 13’s rear camera will be larger, while iPhone 13 Pro Max’s camera will protrude 0.87mm more than the current iPhone 12 Pro Max. Its overall body thickness is also expected to increase by 0.25mm.

Max Weinbach, a leaker with a mixed track record, suggests that the iPhone 13 may feature an ‘always-on display’ that will look like a toned-down Lock screen with the clock, battery and charge level always available. Notifications will be shown, but the screen will not light up entirely.

The launch rumors and leaks always manage to create the necessary buzz leading up to the final event. Let’s see what Apple have in store for us this year. Comment your predictions below.
